Stepping into the lively room at the Firmacasa center, a space dedicated to the holistic development of children, you are greeted by a symphony of sounds: the gentle hum of fans, the clicking of keyboards, and the joyful laughter of young learners. In this vibrant atmosphere, the focused and curious faces of the children immediately capture your attention. Sitting before their screens, they are exploring a world of possibilities.

Located in the heart of a bustling neighborhood in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, Firmacasa, supported by the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Paul of Chartres, has been working for 15 years to provide quality education to children aged 6 to 15.

This center welcomes 240 young people every day, using an innovative model of alternate education adapted to Brazil’s school system, where classes take place either in the morning or the afternoon.

Beyond formal education, the center offers psychological, educational, health, and pastoral support, playing a vital role in the lives of these children and their families. In a context marked by economic challenges, violence, and a lack of opportunities, Firmacasa’s initiatives help protect children from the risks of idleness while boosting their confidence in the future.

Modernizing equipment for new opportunities

For several years, Firmacasa’s computer workshops have been transforming young lives by equipping them with essential skills for their future careers. However, the aging equipment – over 15 years old – was no longer adequate for today’s technological demands.

Together for digital literacy

To address this challenge, the local community mobilized with creativity and determination, organizing fundraising activities that raised $4,270. This effort was bolstered by the support of the Roncalli International Foundation, which contributed $10,357. Thanks to this collective effort, the center was able to acquire 25 new computers and 25 new screens, modernizing its facilities.

Young people want to say thank you! Here’s a video with their heartfelt gratitude to warm your heart this holiday season:
