Responsible and sustainable farming in Madagascar

Since its establishment, the farm of the religious congre gation, les Soeurs de la Charité de Saint-Louis in Maha lavolona, located in the rural commune of Fihaonana, has provided revenues for the congregation and financing for its local projects. Set in an area comprising hills, rice fields, ponds, and arable land, the farm has a small cowshed, a pigsty, a henhouse, a vegetable garden, and an orchard.
In addition, training sessions have raised awareness among the rural population regarding the adoption of responsible and sustainable agricultural practices, such as reforestation and halting slash-and-burn farming
